Final Stats

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Junior quarterback Dominic Randolph (Amelia, Ohio) accounted for 313 yards of total offense and three touchdowns, leading the Holy Cross football team to a 41-15 victory over Dartmouth at Fitton Field. Randolph completed 24 of 35 passes for 298 yards and two scores, while rushing twice for 15 yards and another touchdown. Holy Cross improves to 4-2 overall on the season with the victory, while Dartmouth falls to 1-4.

The Crusaders opened the scoring at the 3:01-mark of the first quarter on a 14-yard touchdown pass from Randolph to senior wide receiver Ryan Maher (Boca Raton, Fla.), before Dartmouth tied the score at 7-7 early in the second quarter with a 10-yard scoring run by Tom Bennewitz. Holy Cross would come back with touchdowns on its next two possessions, with junior tailback Terrance Gass (Sicklerville, N.J.) scoring on a one-yard run and junior tailback Mike Kielt (Southbury, Conn.) adding a 12-yard touchdown run. Junior placekicker Matt Partain (Libertyville, Ill.) then kicked a 49-yard field goal on the last play of the second quarter to make the score 24-7 at the break. Partain's kick set a record for the longest field goal in Holy Cross history, breaking the mark of 48 yards set by Billy Young against Lafayette in 1986.

The Crusaders continued to control the game in the third quarter, adding two more touchdowns to increase their lead to 38-7. Randolph would score on a nine-yard run, then throw a four-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Thomas Harrison (Wilmington, N.C.). The Big Green scored their final points early in the fourth quarter on a 30-yard pass from Alex Jenny to Brian Evans, before Partain concluded the scoring with a 21-yard field goal.

Holy Cross finished the day with 503 yards to total offense, to 336 yards for Dartmouth. In addition, the Crusaders did not commit any turnovers for the second straight week. Junior wide receiver Brett McDermott (Mansfield, Mass.) led all receivers with seven catches for 108 yards, while Gass had a game-high 76 rushing yards on 12 carries. Defensively, junior linebacker Ryan Stewart (Wayland, Mass.) posted seven tackles and two tackles for loss, while senior defensive end Adam Sadowski (Tucson, Ariz.) added five tackles and a sack.

The Crusaders return to action next Saturday, Oct. 20, when they travel to Lehigh for a 1:00 p.m. game.
