Oct. 22, 2005

Box Score

West Point, N.Y. - Holy Cross freshman midfielder Gerry Dickinson's first goal of the season proved to be the game winner as his late tally lifted Holy Cross to a 1-0 victory over Army in a Patriot League men's soccer match on a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon at Clinton Field.

Holy Cross has now won two straight and improves to 7-6 overall (2-3 Patriot League), while the Black Knights fall to 4-10-1 overall (1-3 Patriot League).

Dickinson broke a scoreless tie in the 77th minute when his 12-yard shot from the middle of the field ripped the right corner of the net off a cross from sophomore Chidie Okpoebo.

The Crusaders had nine shots in the second half to Army's eight, while the Black Knights held a 3-2 margin in corner kicks. Overall, Cross held a 14-11 shot advantage and Army led 5-4 in corner kicks.

Holy Cross is back in action on Saturday, October 29, when it plays host to Lafayette in a 2:00 p.m. Patriot League match.
