Freshman forward Aiden Disu of the Holy Cross men’s basketball team has been named the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week for competition from February 2-8.
Disu started and played in both games for the Crusaders averaging a double-double with 13.5 points and a team-high 11.5 rebounds with 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game shooting 57.9% (11-for-19) from the field and 83.3% (5-of-6) from the free throw line. He led the Patriot League in defensive rebounds per game (9.5), while ranking second in rebounding (11.5), tied for fourth in blocks (1.0), tied for eighth in free throw percentage (83.3) and tied for 10th in field goal percentage (57.9) for the week ending Feb. 8.
In the win against Lehigh on Saturday, Disu posted a career-high 21 points with nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks on 72.7% (8-of-11) shooting and a 83.3% (5-of-6) performance at the line earning the Martin J. O'Malley Award, which is given to the Most Outstanding Player of the Holy Cross Winter Homecoming Game.
On the year, Disu ranks ninth in the Patriot League in rebounding (5.3) and 10th in blocks per game (0.6). In Patriot League games, he ranks fifth in the conference in free throw percentage (85.7) and tied for eighth in blocks per game (0.8). Disu ss 25-for-27 (92.6 percent) from the line over his last eight games.
