WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior guard
Cara McCormack has been named the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week, for competition from March 11-17. McCormack averaged 13.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game last week, while helping the Holy Cross women's basketball team to the Patriot League Tournament championship.
McCormack began the week by posting nine points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in the Crusaders' 61-56 victory over Bucknell in the quarterfinals on Monday. Then in Thursday's 72-54 win over Loyola (Md.) in the semifinals, she recorded 16 points, three rebounds and two assists. McCormack concluded the week by totaling 15 points, four rebounds, three assists in two steals in Sunday's 61-55 victory over Boston University in the championship game, including 13 key points in the second half.
On the season, McCormack is averaging 10.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. Over the course of her collegiate career, she has totaled 861 points, 254 rebounds, 227 assists and 71 steals.
Holy Cross (20-12 overall) opens NCAA Tournament play on Thursday, March 21, when it faces Tennessee-Martin at 9 p.m. in Iowa City, Iowa, live on ESPN2.
