WORCESTER, Mass. – The College of the Holy Cross department of athletics has named Aaron Dashiell as its new assistant director of athletics for student-athlete development, as announced by director of athletics Nathan Pine. Dashiell will join the senior athletic staff with primary responsibilities around creating and implementing a robust series of programming to emphasize and improve the development and welfare of Holy Cross student-athletes.
“We are excited to have Aaron join us at Holy Cross, where he will be an integral member of our senior staff,” said Pine. “His impressive background in intercollegiate athletics first as a student-athlete and now as an educator will bring expertise and enthusiasm to better support our student-athletes in all areas of their development. I'm confident his leadership will help to continue to enhance the experience of our student-athletes, coaches and staff.”
Dashiell comes to Holy Cross from Bryant University, where he served as the director of undergraduate advising for the last six years. He served as the supervisor for nine academic advisors, who worked with 3,500 undergraduates across curriculum, course planning, career planning, college transition and students' rights and responsibilities. Dashiell also supervised academic services for student-athletes, where his staff advised, certified and assisted with individualized academic assistance for 500 Division I student-athletes.
“I am extremely excited for this chance to work with the student-athletes and staff at Holy Cross,” said Dashiell. “As a resident of Worcester, this is a great opportunity for me and my family. I am also very thankful for my time at Bryant, where I was able to help navigate the transition to Division I athletics.”
Prior to his role as the director of undergraduate advising, Dashiell served as Bryant's associate director of academic services for student-athletes for one year and an assistant director of academic services for student-athletes for five years. He was also an academic advisor for the football team at Rutgers for two years, after beginning his career as an academic advisor at Bryant for two years.
Dashiell is a 2000 graduate of the University of Maine with a bachelor's degree in secondary education. He was a defensive back on the football team during his time as an undergraduate, earning All-America honors during the 1998 and 1999 seasons. Dashiell went on to receive his master's degree in higher education from Maine in 2002.
