BATIE-SMOOSE ON WEBB:

“She’s a great teammate, and she has the confidence. She’s very coach-able and comes from a volleyball family. She wants to be great and help get this team to the next level, so that’s what you want in your setter. She’s always encouraging and has a steady personality. We know, the team knows and she knows that she is going to be our person to set. That’s a key role. She’s up for that challenge, and we’re really excited about that.”

2016:

• Played in 28 matches, appearing in 96 sets
• As a setter, led the Crusaders with 850 assists, which ranked third in the conference and 29 service aces, which ranked 10th in the conference
• Also had 43 blocks and 238 digs, which were third on the team, along with 35 kills
• Finished the season with 14 double-doubles
• Tallied a career-best 14 digs at Lafayette on Oct. 7, four blocks against La Salle on Sept. 10 and versus Lehigh on Nov. 12 and 47 assists against Quinnipiac on Sept. 10.

Before Holy Cross:

• Played varsity volleyball at Wellesley High School under head coach Matthew Dugan
• Two year Bay State All-Star in 2013 and 2015
• Earned Boston Globe All-Scholastic Player of the Week recognition in 2013
• Also played club volleyball for Southern Alliance under head coach Josh Shepherd

 Personal:

• Daughter of Gary and Dorothy Webb
• Father played club volleyball for UMass Amherst
• Mother played volleyball for the University of the Pacific, helping her team to two NCAA Division I Championship (1985 and 1986). Her mother also serves as the current head coach for the Wellesley College volleyball team (23 seasons)
• Has one brother, Darriad
• Has not yet declared a major
