Luke Duprey is entering his second season as an assistant coach of the Holy Cross men's lacrosse team in the 2025 season. Duprey served as a volunteer assistant coach in the 2023 season, working primarily with the goalkeepers.
In his inaugural season in 2024, Duprey’s defensive strategies led to significant and notable successes. His unit excelled in key matchups, holding UMass Lowell and Sacred Heart to just nine goals each. These performances were crucial, especially as Sacred Heart went on to win the MAAC championship and make the NCAA tournament.
Duprey’s defense was particularly impressive in limiting three opponents to single-digit goals throughout the season, including a standout performance against Lehigh, the eventual 2024 Patriot League champions. His ability to instill discipline and strategic insight has transformed the Crusaders' defensive play, setting a strong foundation for future success. Looking ahead, Duprey aims to build on this solid groundwork with a largely returning defensive lineup in 2025, positioning Holy Cross for continued improvement and competitive success in the seasons to come.
In 2023, Duprey joined College of the Holy Cross as a volunteer assistant, focusing on the goalies. His work was pivotal in helping then-junior Dawson Friers achieve a career-best season, leading the nation in saves per game.
Prior to his role at Holy Cross, Duprey was instrumental in the success of Westwood High School in Austin, Texas. As the head coach and program director from 2019-22, he revitalized a struggling program, leading the Warriors to a Central District title and a state championship semi-final in 2022. This turnaround earned him the Central District Coach of the Year award. In his first full season in charge, Duprey guided Westwood to its first Texas State Tournament quarterfinal appearance since 1996, finishing as the #2 team in Texas Class B.
Duprey began his head coaching career at his alma mater, Phillips Andover Academy, where he served as the head varsity lacrosse coach from 2017-19. His early coaching experiences were further shaped at Torrey Pines High School in San Diego, Calif., where he worked as an assistant coach under head coach Jono Zissi.
While venturing into coaching, Duprey had a distinguished professional lacrosse career. Drafted 4th overall by the New York Lizards in the 2014 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Collegiate Draft, he played for the Lizards, Florida Launch (MLL), and Chrome (Professional Lacrosse League) over four seasons. His professional career provided him with invaluable experience and insights into the game.
Duprey’s lacrosse story began at Duke, where he was a four-year starter at long stick midfield. His tenure at Duke was marked by significant success, including leading the Blue Devils to four NCAA Final Fours and back-to-back NCAA Division I National Championships in 2013 and 2014. As a senior, Duprey was not only a unanimous captain but also earned All-American honors and finished as Duke’s all-time leader in caused turnovers.
Outside of his professional achievements, Duprey enjoys a fulfilling personal life with his wife, Brittni, and their son, Luke Jr. Balancing a successful coaching career with family life, Duprey continues to make significant contributions to the lacrosse community, driven by his passion for the sport and dedication to nurturing young talent.
