Justin Hager was in his second season as an assistantmen’s lacrosse coach at Holy Cross in 2014, and served as theteam's interim head coach for the final game of the 2014 campaign.In 2013, he helped the Crusaders to an overall record of 7-8, goodfor the team’s most wins since 1988.
Hager spent the 2011 and 2012 seasons as an assistant coach atMercer University, where the Bears fielded the school’sinaugural varsity men’s lacrosse team. Hager was theteam’s defensive coordinator and was also the recruitingdirector.
Hager was a two-sport athlete at Hobart, starring on its NCAADivision I lacrosse team, as well as its Division III footballteam. In lacrosse, Hager was Hobart’s team captain for the2009 season and started all 14 games his senior year, whiletallying 13 starts his junior year as a defender. Hager also playedCan-Am Indoor Box Lacrosse as a member of the Seneca AlleganyReservation Arrows from 2005-2009.
In football, Hager led the Liberty League in tackles during hisjunior and senior seasons, including a school single-season record134 tackles in 2008. Hager also holds the Hobart record fortackles in a game with 21 stops against Carnegie Mellon. He wasnamed the 2008 Liberty League Player of the Year and earned 2008second team All-America honors. His career totals include 288tackles, the second-most all-time at Hobart.
Hager is a graduate of Salamanca High School in Salamanca, N.Y.,where he lettered in lacrosse, football and wrestling. In lacrossehe lead Salamanca to its first-ever Section 6 Class C Championship.He was named first-team Class C All-State and Big 30 DefensivePlayer of the Year in football in 2004. He also rushed for nearly1,000 yards as a senior.
Hager graduated from Hobart in 2009 with a bachelor’sdegree in political science. He also earned a master’s degreein education from Mercer in 2011.
