Shayne Toporowski

Shayne Toporowski is in his second season as an assistant men'shockey coach at Holy Cross in 2014-2015.

Toporowski came toHoly Cross after serving as the assistant captain and player coachof the CHL’s Quad City Mallards in the 2012-2013 season.After graduating high school in 1993, Toporowski was chosen in thesecond round, 42nd pick overall, of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft by theLos Angeles Kings. He played two seasons of major juniors followingthe draft with the WHL’s Prince Albert Raiders before joiningthe AHL’s St. John’s Maple Leafs. He received theRookie of the Year Award from the St. John’s Maple Leafs in1995. During the 1996-1997 season with the St. John’s MapleLeafs, Toporowski was called up to play three games with theToronto Maple Leafs. During the 1997-1999 seasons Toporowski playedfor the Worcester IceCats. In 2002, Toporowski was selected to be amember of Team Canada for the Skoda Cup in Switzerland. In2007-2008, he led Rauman Lukko in scoring with 34 points. He earnedthe Golden Helmet Award in 2008-2009 for leading the team inscoring with 46 points for SaiPa Lappeenranta in Finland.Throughout his 18-year career Toporowski played for 15 differentteams in seven different countries. He played in 1,088 careerprofessional games from 1995 to 2013.

Toporowski ran theToporowski Skills Camp in Worcester, Mass. and Quad Cities, Iowa in2013. He also served as the On Ice Skills head Instructor for JeffOliver’s Jacked on the Hill camp at Holy Cross in 2012.Toporowski was the lead instructor for the Saskatchewan HockeyAssociation. He also earned a High Performance 1 CoachCertification from the Saskatchewan Hockey Association in2012-2013.
