Steve Cully is in his fourth year as the tight ends coach on Tom Gilmore’s staff in 2017. Cully also coached the offensive line for the majority of the 2016 season. Last year, offensive lineman James Murray and tight end Lucas Nikolaisen both earned second team All-Patriot League honors.
Cully previously assisted the Holy Cross coaching staff during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Prior to his time with the Crusaders, Cully served as the tight ends coach at Dartmouth in 2011, helping the Big Green tie for second place in the Ivy League with their first winning record in conference play (4-3) since 2003. He was also the tight ends coach at Colgate in 2010, as the Raiders went 7-4 overall.
A 2008 graduate of the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s degree in sociology, Cully was a three-year starter for the Huskies on the offensive line and earned second team All-Independent honors as a senior. He went on to play professionally in NFL Europe and the Arena Football League.
