Jon Guynes is in the second year of his second stint on Tom Gilmore’s coaching staff in 2016, serving as the running backs coach. Prior to re-joining the Crusaders, he spent one season as the running backs coach at Colby College in Waterville, Maine.

Previously, Guynes was a graduate assistant coach at the University of Connecticut in 2012 and 2013, assisting with the defensive line. In addition, he was the defensive line coach at Assumption College in 2011.

During the 2008 campaign, Guynes served as Holy Cross’ outside linebackers coach, helping lead the Crusaders to an overall record of 7-4 and a second place finish in the Patriot League. From 2006-2007, Guynes was the linebackers coach at Iona College, where he helped lead the team to a 7-4 record in 2007. During his time at Iona, Guynes guided the career of Adam Lipski, who earned second team Mid-Major All-America honors in both 2006 and 2007, and was named the 2007 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year. Prior to his time at Iona, Guynes served as the defensive backs coach at Muhlenberg College in 2005.

A 2005 graduate of Lehigh University, Guynes was a three-year starter at linebacker for the Mountain Hawks. He helped lead Lehigh to an overall record of 36-11 during his four seasons, including two trips to the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs. Guynes also received a master’s degree in marketing from Connecticut in 2011.
