Jeff Franklin is in his first year as the assistant secondary coach on Tom Gilmore’s staff in 2014. He joined the Crusaders after spending the previous two seasons on the coaching staff at Bridgton Academy.
During his time at Bridgton Academy, Franklin served as the secondary coach and special teams coordinator in 2012, before taking over as the defensive coordinator and secondary coach in 2013. In addition, he served as the school’s interim head coach in the spring of 2014.
Prior to his stint at Bridgton Academy, Franklin coached internationally with the Milano Daemons (Milan, Italy) and the Minas Locomotivas (Belo Morizonte, Brasil). He also spent two seasons working with the club football team at Wright State University in 2009 and 2010, and was the secondary coach at Central State (Ohio) University in the spring of 2009.
Franklin is a 2009 graduate of Central State with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He earned first team All-America honors as a senior in 2008, after leading all of Division II with eight interceptions. Franklin also played two years with the Cincinnati Commandos of the Continental Indoor Football League, helping the team to an overall record of 23-1 and two league championships. In addition, he won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2011 International Federation of American Football world championship.
