Bill McCarthy is in the first year of his second stint on TomGilmore’s coaching staff in 2011, serving as the tight endscoach. He returns to Worcester after spending the last year as adefensive assistant coach at Villanova. During his only year on thestaff, he helped lead the Wildcats to an overall record of 9-5 anda trip to the NCAA semifinals.
Previously, McCarthy served as Holy Cross’ running backscoach during the 2009 campaign, as the Crusaders won the PatriotLeague title with an overall record of 9-3.
Prior to his first stint at Holy Cross, he spent the 2008season as a graduate assistant coach at Springfield College. Duringhis time at Springfield, McCarthy coached the defensive ends andlong snappers. He also coordinated the team’s video setup andediting for all games and practices. Previously, McCarthy was acoaching intern at Maine Maritime Academy during the 2007 season.He coached the wide receivers and long snappers, in addition tocoordinating the defensive, kickoff and kick return scoutteams.
A 2007 Holy Cross graduate, McCarthy earned two letters for theCrusaders as an offensive lineman and long snapper. He was honoredas the 2006 WTAG Special Teams Player of the Year, and was named tothe Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in both 2005 and 2006.
McCarthy resides in Worcester.
