Andy McKenzie is in his seventh year on Tom Gilmore’scoaching staff in 2014, and his fourth season as offensivecoordinator. McKenzie has served as the quarterbacks coachthroughout his time with the Crusaders, and continues to coach thequarterbacks along with his duties as offensive coordinator.
In 2011, McKenzie directed a Holy Cross offense which averaged400.9 total yards per game, with five All-Patriot Leagueselections. He was previously instrumental in the development of2008 and 2009 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year DominicRandolph, and helped the team to the 2009 Patriot Leaguechampionship.
McKenzie came to the Crusaders after spending six seasons as theoffensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Allegheny College.During his time at Allegheny, McKenzie helped lead the Gators tothe 2003 North Coast Athletic Conference title and a trip to theNCAA Division III Playoffs, with a perfect 7-0 mark in leaguegames. His 2003 offense set 17 school records, while in 2006 hisoffense posted 2,505 passing yards, the second-most in schoolhistory. McKenzie’s offenses featured a number of standoutplayers during his six seasons at Allegheny, including running backMario Tarquinio (3,187 rushing yards from 2003-2006) andquarterback Jimmy Savage (5,181 passing yards from 2003-2006).
Prior to his time with the Gators, McKenzie spent two seasons asthe quarterbacks coach and recruiting coordinator and WilliamsCollege, where he was also an assistant baseball coach. He was alsoan assistant coach at Northeastern University from 1997-2000,working with the wide receivers for three seasons and the secondaryfor one year. In addition, McKenzie served as Northeastern’srecruiting coordinator during his last two years with theHuskies.
McKenzie earned his bachelor’s degree in English fromAllegheny College in 1996, and went on to earn a master’sdegree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from California(Pa.) University in 2006. During his undergraduate days atAllegheny, he was a three-year letterwinner at wide receiver,earning first team All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors in1993 and 1994.
McKenzie and his wife, Salwa, have one son (Braeden) and onedaughter (Yasmine).
