Serving in his first year as Director of Baseball Operations forthe Crusaders in 2011, John Sills was a four-year member of theHoly Cross baseball team from 2006 to 2010, playing three seasonsunder current head coach Greg DiCenzo. During his four years atHoly Cross, Sills served as a two-year captain for the Crusaders(2009-2010). Graduating in 2010 from the College of the Holy Cross,Sills majored in English with a concentration in CreativeWriting.
During his career, Sills helped lead the Crusaders to threestraight post-season berths, while winning at least 20 games inthree consecutive seasons, a feat that had not been achieved sincethe 1917-1919 seasons. In his senior year, the Crusaders played arecord 52 games and appeared in the Patriot League Championship forthe first time in school history. Sills was named one of three 2010Hop Riopel Award recipients, the team's MVP honor, and was namedPatriot League Player of the Week on May 10, 2010.
Sills is tied for the most career games played and games started(166-157). He also tops out with a school record 417 assists, whileis second in the record books with 591 career at-bats. He batted acareer-best .313 his senior season and stole a career-high 11bases, bringing his career total to 29, which ranks fourthall-time.
A native of Milton, Mass., Sills played high school baseballunder Norm Walsh at Boston College High School.
