• Recorded four doubles and a triple with 12 RBI and 13 runs scored.
• Ranked first in Patriot League in hits, second in batting average, fifth in runs scored and fifth in RBI.
• Named Preseason All-Patriot League.
• Earned Hop Riopel Award as Holy Cross’ Most Valuable Player.
• Went 2-for-5 with a double and RBI at Old Dominion (2/22).
• Hit 2-for-4 with an RBI against CSU Bakersfield (2/29).
• Went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored against CSU Bakersfield (3/2).
• Hit 2-for-5 with two runs scored, a double and RBI at CSU Bakersfield (3/3).

• Named to the All-Patriot League first team. 
• Appeared in 43 games with 40 starts as an outfielder. 
• Led the team with a .322 batting average with an on-base percentage of .408.
• Recorded 25 RBI, seven doubles, two triples and four home runs with a .477 slugging percentage.
• Hit 3-for-5 with a double, home run, three runs scored and three RBI at Charleston Southern (3/10).
• Named Patriot League Player of the Week (3/12). 
• Hit 3-for-5 with two triples, three runs scored and an RBI at Lehigh (3/31). 
• Went 3-for-5 with two RBI vs. Lafayette (5/5).

AS A FRESHMAN IN 2017:

• Named Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball.
• Earned Patriot League Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-Patriot League honors.
• Named Patriot League Rookie of the Week twice (3/28, 5/2).
• Appeared in all 53 games.
• Tallied a .290 batting average.
• Led the team in hits with 58.
• Posted a slugging percentage of .410.
• Tallied 27 RBI for the season.
• Registered a season-high 4 RBI against UMass (3/21).
• Hit 2-for-4 with two RBI in the NCAA Tournament win over No. 25 Nebraska (6/3).

BEFORE HOLY CROSS:

• Played three varsity seasons at Belmont Hill under head coach Michael Grant.
• Served as team captain his senior year.
• First team All-League selection as a junior.
• Also played three varsity seasons of basketball, where he was named All-League as a senior.
• Named to the Honor Roll all four years and graduated cum laude.

PERSONAL:

• Son of Alex and Dianne Masel.
• Alex played baseball at Westfield State.
• Majoring in economics.
