WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's tennis team opened their fall slate on Saturday with a 7-0 victory over Wheaton at the Sinnott Family Tennis Facility.

Sophomore Jack Prokopis picked up his first collegiate singles win at No. 5 (6-0, 6-2) for the Crusaders (1-0). Fresh off an All-Patriot League second team campaign last year, senior Matt Carlson earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles and a 6-3 decision at No. 2 doubles. Carlson needs 13 more singles victories, and 11 more doubles wins to become the program's all-time leader in both categories.

DOUBLES PLAY:

• Holy Cross brought home the doubled point taking all three doubles matches.
• Junior Ezequiel De la Plaza and sophomore Aayush Jhaveri were victorious at No. 1 doubles 6-2.
• Sophomore Colton Parker and junior Will Donnelly earned a 6-2 win at No. 3 for the doubles point sweep.

SINGLES ACTION:

• Holy Cross had wins at all six singles matches.
• Jhaveri defeated his opponent 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2.
• Parker had a 6-1, 7-6 victory at No. 3.
• Junior Lucas Bikkesbakker had a thrilling 3-6, 6-4 16-14 match at No. 4.
• Donnelly also held his opponent off the scoreboard 6-0, 6-0.

NEXT UP:

• The Crusaders remain at home on Friday, Sept. 18 against Iona at 3 p.m.
