The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team returns to action when it plays host to Assumption on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. The contest between the Crusaders and the Greyhounds will be shown live on ESPN+.
Holy Cross is off to a 1-0-1 start this year. Last weekend, the Crusaders tied Delaware 2-2 in their season opener on Friday, before posting a 4-0 win over the Blue Hens on Saturday. Sophomore forward
Naemi Herzig leads the team in scoring with three points on two goals and one assist. Junior forward
Amanda Aslan has added two goals, while sophomore forward
Violet Carroll has one goal and one assist for two points. In net, freshman goaltender
Livia Debnarova has posted an 0.96 goals against average and a .961 save percentage. The Crusaders are coming a 2025-2026 season in which they went 19-13-3 overall and placed fourth in Hockey East with 37 points (10-11-3 record).Â
Assumption stands 2-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the New England Women's Hockey Alliance. Last weekend, the Greyhounds swept a pair of games with St. Michael's (2-1 and 6-2). Sophomore forward Alaina Whitesell (two goals, one assist), sophomore forward Natalie Joiner (one goal, two assists) and freshman forward Sydney Burnevik (three assists) and tied for the team lead with three points each. In net, junior goaltender Leila Fournier and sophomore goaltender Maria Suarez have combined for a 1.50 goals against average and an .857 save percentage. Last year, Assumption went 19-16-3 overall and 17-8-3 in the NEWHA.
After the game with the Greyhounds, Holy Cross will remain at home to face Boston College on Friday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m.
