WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore forward Naemi Herzig has been named an assistant captain for the 2026-2027 Holy Cross women's ice hockey team, as announced by head coach Katie Lachapelle. She will join senior forward Emily Crovo (captain), senior forward Reghan Chadwick (assistant captain) and senior forward Lulu Rourke (assistant captain) in leading the Crusaders this season.

"Since April, our senior captains have set an incredible standard for this team," said Lachapelle. "Adding Naemi Herzig to our captaincy reflects the exceptional respect she has earned from our entire roster, and strengthens our leadership group. These captains give us an even stronger foundation as we compete for a championship this season."

Herzig played in 26 games a year ago, ranking second on the team in scoring with 22 points on seven goals and 15 assists. Her 22 points and 15 assists both tied for the second-highest totals by any Crusader in the Hockey East era. Herzig is also a member of Switzerland's national team, and won a bronze medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

The Crusaders are coming off a 2025-2026 campaign in which went 19-13-3 overall, placed fourth in Hockey East with 37 points (10-11-3 record) and advanced to the Hockey East Tournament semifinals for the first time in program history.
