Women's soccer falls to Maine on Senior Day

WORCESTER, Mass.- A second-minute goal proved to be the difference on Sunday, Sept. 13, as the Holy Cross women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Maine on Senior Day at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. The Crusaders fall to 4-3-1 while Black Bear improves to 3-3-2. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Maine took an early 1-0 lead when Isabella Meadows headed in a pass from Sandrine Brault just two minutes into the match.
  • Katie Boudreau made a highlight-reel save in the 42nd minute to keep Maine's lead at 1-0 heading into halftime.
  • The Black Bears led 7-1 on shot attempts and 3-1 on shots on goal through the first 45 minutes of play.
  • Both sides played a scoreless second half, allowing Maine to preserve the 1-0 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: 
  • Holy Cross was shut out in consecutive matches for the first time this season.
  • Holy Cross falls to 9-12-1 in the all-time series with Maine.
  • Maine held an 11-9 edge in shots, while Holy Cross led 5-3 in shots on goal.
  • Maine led 5-2 in corners and both sides were tied with five corners each.
