WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's soccer team was defeated by Northeastern 5-0 at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. The Crusaders open the year at 0-1, while the Huskies begin the season 1-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Northeastern opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Kortay Koc converted a penalty kick.
• Koc added his second goal of the night in the 49th minute, before Will Schmidt made the score 3-0 in the 66th minute.
• Tate Duax and Bryce Flowers both scored in the final 10 minutes of play to conclude the scoring.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Northeastern finished the night with a narrow 15-13 advantage in shots, while Holy Cross held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
• Freshman goalkeeper
Caleb Klepacz made three saves for the Crusaders.
NEXT UP:
• Holy Cross returns to action on Sunday, Aug. 23, when it plays host to Merrimack in its Senior Day game at 2 p.m.
