WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross women's ice hockey rising sophomore Naemi Herzig has been nominated for the 2026 St. Gallen Sports Prize. She is one of three nominees in the Young Athlete category, along with Lura Wick (freestyle snowboard) and Andrin Huber (track and field). The award recognizes the outstanding sporting achievements of individuals from the city and region of St. Gallen, Switzerland.

Herzig won a bronze medal as a member of the Swiss national team at the 2026 Winter Olympics. She became the first Winter Olympic medalist and female Olympic medalist in Holy Cross history. Over the course of the Olympics, Herzig played in all seven of Switzerland's games, with the majority of her action coming as the center on the third line. She tallied 144 total shifts of action, while seeing 91 minutes and 25 seconds of ice time.

For the Crusaders, Herzig played in 26 games in 2025-2026, ranking second on the team in scoring with 22 points on seven goals and 15 assists. She also had a 204-137 mark on faceoffs, while finishing the season at +7. Herzig placed second on the school Hockey East era single-season lists for points and assists, while standing sixth for plus-minus and ninth for goals scored. She was also named an American Hockey Coaches Association All-American Scholar and was selected to the Hockey East All-Academic Team.
