EASTON, Pa. – Senior
CJ Egrie became the first player in program history to record 40 steals in a season as the Holy Cross baseball team dropped a pair of contests 3-1 in seven innings and 7-4 in nine innings to Patriot League foe Lafayette Sunday afternoon at Kamine Stadium.
The setbacks send the Crusaders to 21-27 and 13-13 PL on the year. They qualified as the No. 4 seed in the upcoming 2026 Patriot League Tournament Semifinal Series and will take on No. 1 seeded Army West Point (28-18, 17-9 PL) from Saturday, May 9 to Monday, May 11. Lafayette's season concludes at 12-33, 7-19 PL.
Egrie's 40th theft of 2026 came in game one of the doubleheader in the top of the third inning. Egrie (92 career steals) moved to third place on the Patriot League's all-time stolen base list passing Shawn Harris (91, Fordham, 1992-1994). It is the sixth time in Patriot League history a student-athlete has recorded 40+ steals in a single-season.
In game two, freshman
Liam Daly belted his fourth home run of the year and second over his last three games.
