WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman infielder Owen Stelzer has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week the league offices announced Monday afternoon. It is the first time this season and first time in his career that Stelzer has earned weekly league honors.
 
The shortstop appeared in all three games for the Crusaders coming on as a defensive replacement (no plate appearances) in the mid-week against Merrimack (March 31) while starting both games at shortstop against Army West Point (April 4) on Saturday. Stelzer slashed .333/.500/.833 for a 1.333 OPS with a home run, five RBI, two runs scored and two walks. 
 
He went 1-for-2 with an RBI, a run scored and two walks in the 11-5 seven-inning game one win over Army. His RBI walk was part of a six run bottom of the first. In game two, was 1-for-4 with a grand slam, four RBI and a run scored in the 16-6 run-rule victory over Army. His grand slam broke the game open in the bottom of the third, part of a seven run frame. He was perfect in the field going 4-for-4 on total chances this past week.
 
On the season, the newcomer has a .213/.333/.325 triple slash line with three doubles, two home runs, 12 RBI, 12 runs scored, 13 walks and a pair of stolen bases.

Holy Cross (12-16, 7-4 PL) has won three straight games and six of its last nine. They wrap up the season series with Army (15-13, 6-5 PL) on Monday, April 6 at 1 p.m.
