WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's tennis team wrapped up Patriot League play with a 4-2 setback to Loyola (Md.) on Sunday in Baltimore before rebounding to earn a 5-2 victory at home against non-conference opponent Sacred Heart on Tuesday afternoon.
The split sends the Crusaders to 7-12, 1-4 PL while the Greyhounds improve to 3-13, 2-5 PL and the Pioneers fall to 4-14.
Junior
Matt Carlson earned his fourth win at singles during Patriot League action to complete the conference season a perfect 4-0 in league matches.
LOYOLA (MD.) DOUBLES PLAY:
- The Greyhounds had wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to earn the doubles point.
- Freshman Aayush Jhaveri and sophomore Will Donnelly had a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
LOYOLA (MD.) SINGLES ACTION:
- Holy Cross won at No. 1 and No. 2, singles, but it wasn't enough to earn the win.
- Carlson defeated Petter Hagen 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles while classmate, junior Teddy Callery posted a 6-4, 6-2 decision at No. 2 singles.
SACRED HEART DOUBLES PLAY:
- Holy Cross had a pair of wins to capture the doubles point.
- Carlson and Callery were victorious at No. 1 doubles, 6-1 while Jhaveri and Donnelly won 7-6 at No. 3.
SACRED HEART SINGLES ACTION:
- Wins at No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles brought home the win for the Crusaders.
- Callery (No. 2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2) and Jhaveri (No. 3, 6-2, 6-4) manufactured their second win of the match.
NEXT UP:
- The Crusaders wrap up their 2025-26 campaign with their final tuneup before Patriot League play when they face Bentley (4-6, 3-4 NE10) on Monday, April 20 at 3:30 p.m.
