CHERRY HILL, N.J. - The Holy Cross women's rowing team continued its spring schedule on Saturday and Sunday at the Knecht Cup.
"We returned to Knecht Cup for the first time since 2019 to get a mid season championship experience racing 34 other teams," said associate head coach Tony Delgreco. "We learned from each of our three races and adapted our mindset and execution as we progressed through the weekend. We are proud of what the team took away from our trip to Cherry Hill and will continue to build as we come into the second half of the season."
The varsity 8+ won their heat against Drexel, Marist, and Jefferson by nearly three seconds with a time of 6:57.65 to earn a spot in the first semi-final where they posted a time of 7:27.36, placing fifth. The group finished third in the third final with a time of 6:58.37, falling to Georgetown and Delaware by under three seconds, and defeating Old Dominion, Sacred Heart, and Eastern Michigan by three or more seconds.
The second varsity eight placed second in their heat with a time of 7:05.35, falling to Radcliffe by under a quarter of a second, and defeating Sacred Heart, Eastern Michigan, and St. Josephs by seven or more seconds. In the first semi-final, the group finished fifth with a time of 7:29.07, before winning the third final with a time of 7:12.09, over three seconds ahead of second-place Radcliffe.
Holy Cross will return home to Lake Quinsigamond to face Boston College, Connecticut, Massachusetts, MIT & Sacred Heart on Saturday, April 18.
