BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior right fielder
CJ Egrie had three hits and a career-high four steals as the Holy Cross baseball team swept Lehigh following a 7-2 victory Sunday at Legacy Park.
The win moves the Crusaders to 9-13 overall and 5-1 in conference play. The Mountain Hawks drop its fourth straight game and slide to 5-15, 2-4 PL.
Egrie started his day off making a diving catch in right field and doubling off the runner at first base. At the dish he was 3-for-4 with pilfers in the fifth, two in the seventh and one in the eight for the personal-best effort. His four thefts match a Patriot League single-game high in 2026 (Tyler Bouchard – Navy vs. Maine, March 18).  Â

Derek Volz had his finest outing of the season tossing a season-best five innings of one run ball punching out four in the victory. Junior center fielder
Gianni Royer pumped his third home run of the season in the seventh.
Holy Cross has taken the first two Patriot League series of 2026 and has won eight straight series against league opponents dating back to 2025. The Crusaders are 19-5 (.792) against Patriot League opponents since Apri 12, 2025 including the Patriot League Tournament.
The Crusaders have also outscored the Mountain Hawks 115-to-49 across their last 11 matchups and are 9-2 (.818) against Lehigh in that stretch.

- Brandon Coughlin: (L, 0-2), 2.0 innings pitched, three hits allowed, two earned runs, zero walks, three strikeouts, 38 pitches
- Freshman Henry Harding: 2.0 innings pitched, three hits allowed, zero runs, zero walks, two strikeouts, 33 pitches
STEPPING TO THE PLATE:
- Egrie: 3-for-4, two runs scored, RBI, walk, four stolen bases
- Royer: 2-for-4, home run, three RBI, run scored
- Junior Braden Connors: 1-for-3, two RBI, run scored, stolen base
- Junior Van Coughlin: 1-for-3, double, RBI
- Sophomore Nick Spaner: 2-for-5, double, run scored
- Raffaele Rogers: 2-for-4, RBI
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Two out hitting in the top of the first gave the Crusaders the 1-0 lead as Coughlin hit a double deep to left field to score Connors, who reached via a hit-by-pitch from first.
- During the bottom of the second, Egrie stretched out to make a diving catch in right field and fired to first base for a double play.
- Lehigh hit an RBI single to left field to tie the score in the third.
- Egrie's speed resulted in a run for Holy Cross in the fifth as he singled, stole second, reached third on a dropped third strike and crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly.
- Egrie recorded his third hit of the game in the seventh and stole second and third base. After stealing third, Royer smashed a two-run homer to center field for the 4-1 advantage.
- Lehigh got a run back in the seventh via a solo shot to trail 4-2.
- The Crusaders broke the game open in the eighth as Egrie worked a four pitch walk for the RBI and Connors pulled an RBI single for the 7-2 edge.
