Baseball downed in mid-week contest at Bryant

SMITHFIELD R.I. – The Holy Cross baseball team was upended 11-1 in seven innings during their 2026 season mid-week opener at Bryant Tuesday, March 17 in a windy Conaty Park.

The loss sends the Crusaders to 6-13 on the year while the Bulldogs improve to 9-8.

Senior CJ Egrie recorded his 63rd career stolen base in the contest tying him for the all-time program record with Evan Ocello (2012-2015). Egrie will look to become the program's all-time career leader in thefts this coming weekend at Lehigh (March 21-22).

  • Sophomore Brett Mulligan: (L, 0-1), 2.0 innings pitched, seven hits allowed, five earned runs, zero walks, one strikeout
OUT OF THE BULLPEN:

  • Bryant recorded five extra base hits in a row en route to a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the third. The third home run of the inning coupled with an error expanded the edge to 8-1.
  • Two runs in the sixth and a run in the seventh clinched the run rule victory for the Bulldogs.
DUE UP:
  • Holy Cross returns to Patriot League play this coming weekend at Lehigh (5-11, 2-1 PL) for a 7 inning/9 inning doubleheader on Saturday, March 21.
  • Senior Jaden Wywoda (2-1, 4.39 ERA) is the probable pitcher for game one. First pitch is set for noon.
