Men’s tennis falls to Dartmouth, No. 32 Brandeis

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's tennis team returned to the court this weekend and played a pair of dual matches falling to non-conference foe Dartmouth 7-0 Saturday and No. 32 ranked Brandeis 4-1 Sunday.

Holy Cross slides to 1-4 on the season with the setbacks while Dartmouth (6-1), and Brandeis (1-1) improve their records.

DARTMOUTH DOUBLES PLAY:
  • The Big Green captured all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.
  • Junior Matt Carlson and senior Patrick Ling fell 6-3 at No. 1 doubles to Malhar Patel and Calvin Wang.
DARTMOUTH SINGLES ACTION:
  • Dartmouth swept through singles play to earn the 7-0 shutout.
  • Carlson and freshman Aaush Jhaveri needed extra serves in their matches, but could not complete the comeback win.
BRANDEIS DOUBLES PLAY:
  • The Judges bought home two of three doubles matches to take the doubles point.
  • Freshmen Colton Parker and Jhaveri downed Huasen Dong and Muaz Malik at No. 3, 6-4.
BRANDEIS SINGLES ACTION:
  • Brandeis had wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 singles to win the match.
  • Callery defeated Malik at No. 3 singles rallying from a 2-6 set one loss winning the second 6-4 and third 6-2 for the lone Crusader point.
NEXT UP:
  • The Crusaders will be back on the court Thursday, Feb. 12 to face off with BYU (4-0) at 1 p.m.
