HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Holy Cross field hockey team fell in its regular season finale at Colgate, 3-1, at Tyler's Field.

Colgate completes its 2026 season with a 6-9 (2-4 PL) record. Holy Cross closes the regular season as the no. 4 seed in the Patriot League playoffs with a 9-6 (3-3 PL) record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Colgate got on the board first, earning and converting on a penalty stroke opportunity 4:15 in the match.
• Holy Cross drew a penalty corner opportunity in the second quarter, but neither team was able to record a shot on goal.
• Sophomore Maeve Kiernan tied the game at 1-1 with 4:12 to go in the third quarter. Playing a rebound out of the air, Kiernan batted the ball past the Raiders' netminder for the tie.
• The tie held until Colgate was able to score with 6:32 remaining in regulation. With the netminder pulled for the extra attacker, Colgate was able to draw a penalty corner opportunity with 23 seconds remaining, extending their lead to 3-1.

BEYOND THE BOX:

• Sophomore Mia McCloskey recorded five saves in the contest.
• Kiernan's goal was the second of her career, and first against a Patriot League opponent.

UP NEXT:

• Holy Cross will travel to Easton, Pa. for the Patriot League playoffs, their first time earning a spot in the series since the 2020 season.
• As the no. 4 seed, the Crusaders will face no. 1 seed and nationally ranked no. 15 Lafayette on Thursday, Nov. 5 in the Semifinal round at 12 p.m. at Rappolt Field.
