BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Holy Cross volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss on the road to Patriot League opponent Lehigh Saturday in Grace Hall.
Sophomore outside hitter
Emma Sorensen paced the Crusaders (7-11, 1-5 PL) attack once again with a team-best 15 kills to go with six digs. She also reached the 500 career kill milestone and has 519 in her career. Junior middle blocker
Lacey Murphy chipped in eight kills hitting .467 with two total blocks and a dig.
The Mountain Hawks (11-3, 4-2 PL) were led by Ufoma Omene's 16 kills.

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- Lehigh held a 7-3 lead in the opening set. A senior outside hitter Georgia Murphy kill with an attack error put Holy Cross down one 10-9. Trailing by five, 15-10, Holy Cross produced five straight points with sophomore middle blocker Kyla Harris posting a kill and back-to-back blocks with freshman right side Kat Teepe to level the score at 15. Freshman setter Drew Flanagan set up Teepe to push Holy Cross ahead 19-18. All squared at 19, Holy Cross produced five in a row again as Lacey Murphy had a pair of kills which put them on the brink of set point 24-19. Murphy then solo blocked an attack attempt for the 25-20 win.
- Following a Teepe ace, the Mountain Hawks scored three straight by the same player to lead 11-7. Now ahead by five, they also went on a 4-0 mini spurt to go ahead 20-11. They eventually won the set 25-16.
- Georgia Murphy moved Holy Cross in the lead at 7-6 in the third set. She then had back-to-back aces increasing the lead to three, 12-9. A 6-1 Lehigh run leapfrogged them back ahead 15-13. Down two another stretch of four straight with a dual block capping the run reestablished the lead to Lehigh at 20-18. Ahead by one 21-20, the Mountain Hawks scored the final four points to lead the match 2-1.
- Lehigh started the fourth set on 7-1 run getting five straight markers before the Crusaders scored. Harris and Georgia Murphy blocked an attempt to trim the deficit to 8-5. Down five, the Crusaders came within one, 16-15, but the Mountain Hawks went on a 9-2 run to clinch the match.
INSIDE THE BOX:
- Sorensen needs 237 more kills to move into the top-10 in program history.
- Sophomore defensive specialist Elizabeth Hall recorded double-digit digs for the fourth straight match.
- Freshman setter Drew Flanagan tallied 30+ assists for the second straight match.

UP NEXT:
- The Crusaders conclude nonconference play on Tuesday, Oct. 6 against Bryant (8-12, 2-1 AE).
- First serve is slated for 6 p.m. in the Hart Center Arena.
