The Holy Cross men's basketball team remains on the road to face American on Saturday, Jan. 10 with tip-off set for 4 p.m. in Bender Arena. The contest will stream live on ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (6-10, 1-2 PL): 

• Holy Cross fell to Lehigh 66-58 on Wednesday evening in Bethlehem. Junior guard/forward Gabe Warren scored a team-best 15 points on 6-of-8 (75.0 percent) shooting to go with four rebounds in the setback.
• The Crusaders have one of the stiffest defensive units in the Patriot League. Across three league games, they rank first in the conference in scoring defense (63.0) and second in three-point percentage defense (30.2). They ended non-conference play ranking second in the Patriot League in scoring defense (73.3) and fourth in three-point percentage defense (32.6).
• Junior guard/forward Joe Nugent has knocked down 169 three-pointers in his Holy Cross career. He needs five more triples to climb to fourth place on the program's all-time list (173 - Andrew Beinert, 2007-11.)
• Holy Cross Athletics announced on Monday, Dec. 22nd that the court in the Hart Center Arena will be dedicated and named in honor of Crusader and NBA legend Bob Cousy. A formal dedication of the Bob Cousy '50 Court will take place on Saturday, Feb. 7 prior to the game against Lehigh on Winter Homecoming Weekend.
• Holy Cross is the eighth ranked Patriot League team in the 2026 Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings (329th). They rank 319th (99.8) in offensive rating and 319th (115.3) in defensive rating.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES (9-7, 2-1 PL): 

• American has lost three of their last five games including a 64-62 defeat on the road at Colgate on Wednesday evening. Geoff Sprouse scored a team-best 14 points on 4-of-6 (66.7%) three-point shooting.
• Greg Jones was voted the Patriot League Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team. Jones is averaging 11.6 points and 1.4 steals per game.
• Jones earned Patriot league Honorable Mention honors on Monday after averaging 16.5 points on 68 percent (13-of-19) shooting in a 2-0 week for the Eagles.
• As a team, American paces the conference in turnover margin (2.75), steals per game (8.6), scoring offense (77.6) and fast break points per game (13.3).
• The Eagles rank three out of 10 Patriot League teams in the 2026 Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings (232nd). They are 227th in offensive rating (105.2) and 225th (110.8) in defensive rating.

LAST TIME THEY MET: 

• Holy Cross is 24-30 (.444) in the series history against American which began back in 1967. The Eagles have won 11 of the last 13 meetings dating back to the 2018-19 season.
• In their last meeting on Jan. 18, 2025, the Crusaders were downed 74-65 by the Eagles. Then-sophomore DeAndre Williams scored 15 points with five rebounds, and three assists in the setback.
