Men’s basketball ends road stretch Saturday in West Point

The Holy Cross men's basketball team ends a stretch of six of eight games on the road when they travel to Patriot League foe Army West Point Saturday, Jan. 31 for a 1 p.m. tip-off in Christl Arena. The contest will stream live on ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (8-14, 3-6 PL): 
  • Holy Cross dropped their fourth consecutive contest falling to Colgate 79-74 Wednesday evening in Hamilton, N.Y. Sophomore guard Tyler Boston scored a contest-best 20 points to go with five assists and four rebounds in the setback.
  • Junior guard/forward Joe Nugent, who ranks fourth all-time in program history with 186 three-pointers, needs six more to climb into third place (191, Devin Brown – 2008-2012) and nine more for second place (194, Keith Simmons – 2003-2007) on the program's all-time list. Nugent is 37 threes away from becoming the program's all-time leader (222, Kevin Hamilton – 2002-2006).
  • Nugent currently ranks fourth in the Patriot League in three-pointers per game (2.3), sixth in three-point percentage (39.5) and seventh in three-pointers (45). Across nine league games, Nugent is third in three-point percentage (45.1), tied for fourth in three-pointers (23) and three-pointers per game (2.6). Per sports-reference.com, Nugent is the fifth best offensive player in the league with a 121.1 offensive rating.
  • Junior forward Declan Ryan and classmate, guard/forward Gabe Warren are two of the top shooters in the league via field goal percentage in conference play. Ryan comes in fourth at 61.1 percent and Warren seventh at 55.7 percent.
  • Freshman forward Aiden Disu has been the Crusaders' best free throw shooter during conference action ranking 10th in the league in free throw percentage (82.6).
  • Holy Cross Athletics announced on Monday, Dec. 22nd that the court in the Hart Center Arena will be dedicated and named in honor of Crusader and NBA legend Bob Cousy. A formal dedication of the Bob Cousy '50 Court will take place on Saturday, Feb. 7 prior to the game against Lehigh on Winter Homecoming Weekend.
  • Holy Cross is the ninth ranked Patriot League team in the 2026 Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings (327th). They rank 307th (101.6) in offensive rating and 320th (116.8) in defensive rating.
SCOUTING THE BLACK KNIGHTS (9-13, 3-6 PL): 
  • Army won only two of their last eight games including a 67-64 win at home against Lehigh on Wednesday evening. Four players scored in double figures as Tate Laczkowski scored a game-high 17 points with nine boards, three assists and a pair of steals in the victory.
  • The Black Knights rely on the three ball as they rank ninth in the NCAA in three-point attempts per game (32.1) and 15th in three-pointers per game (10.9).
  • In nine league games, Ryan Curry paces the Patriot League in three-pointers (27) and three-pointers per game (3.0) while ranking third in assists per game (4.8), third in assists (43) third in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.7), sixth in minutes per game (35.8) and seventh in scoring (16.8).
  • Army is the 10th ranked Patriot League team in the 2026 Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings (337th). They rank 277th (103.6) in offensive rating and 352nd (120.5) in defensive rating.
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • Holy Cross is 71-34 (.676) in the series history against Army which began back in 1926. seven of the last eight meetings.
  • In their last meeting on Jan. 14, the Crusaders earned an 82-75 win at home in the Hart Center Arena. Tyler Boston scored 20 points with five assists for the Crusaders while Aiden Disu notched his first career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
