PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Abby Hornung made 35 saves while posting her third shutout of the year, as the 14th-ranked Holy Cross women's ice hockey team defeated Providence 3-0 at Schneider Arena. The Crusaders improve to 18-7-1 on the season and 10-6-1 in Hockey East, while the Friars fall to 7-17-2 overall and 4-10-2 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Holy Cross opened the scoring midway through the first period on a goal by junior Reghan Chadwick.
• The Crusaders increased the lead to 2-0 in the second period on a breakaway goal from senior Alexia Moreau.
• Senior Charlotte Sonntag then concluded the scoring late in the third period with an empty net goal.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Holy Cross picked up its 10th conference victory of the season, marking the first time it has ever reached double figures in Hockey East wins.
• The victory was the first ever for the Crusaders at Schneider Arena, and also their first ever shutout of the Friars.
• Providence finished the game with a 35-23 advantage in shots on goal.

• Holy Cross returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 29, when it faces Northeastern at Walter Brown Arena in Boston at 7 p.m.
