Men’s basketball welcomes Army to Hart Center Arena on Wednesday

The Holy Cross men's basketball team is back at home on Wednesday, Jan. 14 to take on Patriot League foe Army West Point at 6 p.m. in the Hart Center Arena. The contest will stream live on ESPN+ with Kevin Gehl (play-by-play) and Jacob VanRyn (analyst) on the call.

Wednesday is Education Appreciation Night as we celebrate our incredible educators within our community.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (7-10, 2-2 PL): 
  • The Crusaders earned a massive road Patriot League win on the road Saturday downing American 84-73. Sophomore guard Tyler Boston scored a team-high 19 points while junior guard/forward Gabe Warren filled the box score with 17 points and a career-high matching eight rebounds.
  • Warren was named Patriot League Honorable Mention on Monday by the league office. He averaged team-bests in points (16.0) and rebounds (6.0) while shooting a squad-high 81.3 percent (13-of-16) from the field which ranked third in the conference for the week ending Jan. 11.
  • Across four league games, Warren ranks fourth in the conference in field goal percentage (66.7, 20-for-30). His classmate, junior forward Declan Ryan ranks sixth in field goal percentage (62.1, 18-for-29). Sophomore forward Aidan Richard is sixth in steals per game (1.5).
  • The Crusader defense has been dialed in through the four conference contests as they rank first in the league in three-point percentage defense (23.4), second in scoring defense (65.5) fourth in field goal percentage defense (44.5) and fourth in turnovers forced per game (11.3).
  • As a team, Holy Cross set a season-high in points (84), field goal percentage (54.9), and free throw conversions (24) last time out at American.
  • Junior guard/forward Joe Nugent has knocked down 170 three-pointers in his Holy Cross career. He needs four more triples to climb to fourth place on the program's all-time list (173 - Andrew Beinert, 2007-11.)
  • Holy Cross Athletics announced on Monday, Dec. 22nd that the court in the Hart Center Arena will be dedicated and named in honor of Crusader and NBA legend Bob Cousy. A formal dedication of the Bob Cousy '50 Court will take place on Saturday, Feb. 7 prior to the game against Lehigh on Winter Homecoming Weekend.
  • Holy Cross is the sixth ranked Patriot League team in the 2026 Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings (314th). They rank 302nd (101.5) in offensive rating and 299th (114.7) in defensive rating.
SCOUTING THE BLACK KNIGHTS (7-10, 1-3 PL): 
  • Army has lost three straight games including a 100-91 loss at Boston University on Saturday. Ryan Curry had a near double-double with 24 points and eight assists going 4-for-8 (50 percent) from deep in the setback.
  • Curry was named Patriot League Honorable Mention by the league office on Monday after averaging 21.5 points and 5.5 assists per game in an 0-2 week for the Black Knights.
  • The Black Knights lead the Patriot League and rank eighth in the NCAA in three-pointers per game (11.3) and ninth in the country in three-point attempts per game (32.8). They also pace the conference in offensive rebounds per game (11.8), rebounds per game (37.4), and assists per game (15.4).
  • Over four conference games, Army ranks last in scoring defense (84.5) and opposing field goal percentage (49.4),
  • Army ranks ninth out of 10 Patriot League teams in the 2026 Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings (330th). They are 292nd in offensive rating (102.2) and 344th (118.1) in defensive rating.
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • Holy Cross is 70-34 (.673) in the series history against Army which began back in 1926. The Crusaders are 36-13 (.735) against the Black Knights in the Hart Center Arena. Army has won seven of the last eight meetings.
  • In their last meeting on Feb. 5, 2025, Army earned an 68-65 win. Then-sophomore Joe Nugent scored 12 points with seven rebounds in the loss.
