HAMPDEN, Mass. – Freshman
John Scully finished in 11th place as an individual, as the Holy Cross men's golf squad came in 11th as a team in the UConn Invitational at the GreatHorse Country Club.
INDIVIDUAL RESULTS:
• Scully shot 69-72-75 to finish the tournament at even par (216).
• Senior
Matthew Williams came in 56th, posting scores of 73-74-84 (231).
• Junior
Alex Elia earned a 58th place finish, shooting 82-71-79 (232).
• Rounding out the field for the Crusaders were freshman
Leo Chu (66th / 235) and junior
Thomas O'Neill (70th / 237).
• Markus Lam of Boston College won the individual title, defeating Bradley Sawka of Connecticut on the second hole of a sudden death playoff after both players tied for first place at four-under par (212).
TEAM SCORES:
• Connecticut took home the team title with a three-round total of 864 (even par).
• Holy Cross finished with 907 strokes, six shots ahead of Patriot League foe Lafayette.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Scully's three-under par 69 on day one was the lowest round by a Crusader so far this season.

• "Four of the 12 scores that we counted were contributed by our freshmen,
John Scully and
Leo Chu," said head coach
Steve Napoli. "I'm confident that our upperclassmen will play better during our final two events of the fall season."

• The Crusaders return to action when they take part in the Bucknell Invitational at the Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pa., from Oct. 12-14.
