WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore goalkeeper
Mateo Buyu posted a shutout with three saves, as the Holy Cross men's soccer team played Lafayette to a 0-0 tie at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. The Crusaders move to 2-3-3 overall and 0-0-2 in the Patriot League, while the Leopards now stand 2-5-2 on the year and 0-1-1 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Buyu made two of his saves in the second half, as the Holy Cross defense was able to hold Lafayette at bay throughout the day.
• The Crusaders had several good scoring chances, including a header off a corner kick by junior midfielder
Jeb Snead in the 88th minute, but were unable to find the net.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Holy Cross finished the game with an 11-9 advantage in shots and a 3-0 edge in corner kicks.
• Buyu's shutout was the second of his collegiate career.
NEXT UP:
• Holy Cross returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 23, when it plays host to Rhode Island at 6 p.m.
