Archie Hatcher both scored goals, as the Holy Cross men's soccer team posted a 2-1 victory over Stonehill at Skyhawk Field. The Crusaders improve to 2-3-2 on the season, while the Skyhawks fall to 2-5-0 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Stonehill opened the scoring in the 21st minute, as Nate Monteiro knocked in a rebound after a shot by James Forrest-Hay had been saved.
• Holy Cross responded in the 31st minute, when Mancuso found the net from six yards out in the center off a pass from junior defender
Kyle Martell.
• The Crusaders then took a 2-1 lead in the 33rd minute, with Hatcher scoring on a blast from 17 yards out in the left side of the box.
• Neither team would score again, with Holy Cross holding on to earn the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• The Crusaders finished the game with a dominating 21-11 advantage in shots, to go along with a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
• Sophomore goalkeeper
Mateo Buyu made four saves while allowing just one goal in 90 minutes of action.
• Mancuso now leads the team in scoring with three goals on the season.
NEXT UP:
• Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 20, when it plays host to Lafayette at 4 p.m.
