WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman forward
Archie Hatcher scored the first goal of his collegiate career, as the Holy Cross men's soccer team played Navy to a 1-1 draw at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. The Crusaders move to 1-3-2 on the season and 0-0-1 in the Patriot League, while the Midshipmen now stand 1-2-4 overall and 0-0-1 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Holy Cross opened the scoring in the 68th minute, when Hatcher knocked home a rebound after a shot by junior midfielder
Adric Rosato had been saved.
• The Midshipmen tied things up at 1-1 in the 77th minute, with J.P. Torres scoring off a pass from Bryce Robisch.
• Neither team was able to find the net again, as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Navy finished the game with a 10-7 advantage in shots, while each team attempted seven corner kicks.
• Sophomore goalkeeper
Mateo Buyu made three saves while allowing just one goal in 90 minutes of action.
NEXT UP:
• Holy Cross returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 17, when it travels to Stonehill for a 4 p.m. game.
