NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's soccer team was defeated by Merrimack 1-0 at Martone-Mejail Field. The Crusaders fall to 0-1-1 on the season, while the Warriors improve to 1-1-0 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The only goal of the day came in the 80th minute, when Alessandro Bedei volleyed a John Labelle free kick into the upper left corner of the net from 16 yards out.
• Holy Cross had a few good scoring chances of its own, but was unable to convert as Merrimack pulled out the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• The Crusaders finished the game with a 10-8 advantage in shots, while the Warriors held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
• Sophomore goalkeeper
Mateo Buyu made a career-high five saves on the afternoon.

• Holy Cross returns to action on Friday, Aug. 29, when it heads to Brown for a 7 p.m. game.
