BROOKLINE, Mass. – Sophomore goalkeeper
Mateo Buyu made three saves, as the Holy Cross men's soccer team tied Northeastern 1-1 at Parsons Field. Both the Crusaders and the Huskies begin the season at 0-0-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Holy Cross opened the scoring in the 16th minute, when a free kick by freshman forward
Archie Hatcher was deflected into the net off a Northeastern player.
• The Huskies tied the score at 1-1 in the 24th minute, as Bryce Flowers knocked in a rebound after a shot by Kade Tepe had been saved.
• Neither team was able to find the net again, as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Northeastern finished the game with an 8-4 advantage in shots and a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.
• The Crusaders now stand 22-31-8 all-time in season openers.
NEXT UP:
• Holy Cross returns to action on Sunday, Aug. 24, when it travels to Merrimack for a 3 p.m. game.
