WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross women's rowing assistant coach
Anthony Delgreco has been promoted to associate head coach, as announced by head coach
Andrea Landry.
"I am eager to announce my recent decision to promote Tony Delgreco to associate head coach of our program," Landry said. "The success of Holy Cross women's rowing in recent years is a direct result of Tony's impact, to include making program history at the Head of the Charles last fall, drawing in top prospects as part of his recruiting efforts, and climbing national rankings during his time with us. He has been a jack of all trades!"
Delgreco is entering his third year at Holy Cross, where he has served as an assistant coach in the previous two seasons, and recruiting coordinator this past year.
"With his 'do the hard things' approach, Tony continually challenges the team to ask more of themselves, by revamping the training program after his first few months to include more thoughtful and longer mileage to demanding higher quality movement on land during warm ups," Landry continued. "He appreciates the necessity for effective movement which has transferred well to our boat speed and minimized overuse injuries the last two years."
"He teaches rather than preaches and has a genuine passion for the sport of rowing, often asking the questions that stir curiosity and critical thinking for long term understanding and growth. He truly aligns with the mission of Holy Cross to provide a transformative experience for our student-athletes. I am grateful for the support Tony has provided me in my role, as we continue to develop this energizing, evolving, and limitless program. Tony, well deserved!"
Prior to joining the Holy Cross staff, Delgreco worked as a volunteer assistant coach at Boston University, where he primarily worked with the team's Open Weight Women's 3v and 4v levels, focusing on improving technical proficiencies on the water. Delgreco is also a Level 5 certified coach, and has previously worked as a strength and conditioning coach.
"I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve our team as associate head coach as we embark on our next chapter," said Delgreco of the promotion. "Over the past two years, Andrea has consistently demonstrated strong leadership, empowering me to contribute ideas and diverse viewpoints as we've worked to elevate the team athletically and culturally. While this new title is deeply appreciated, it only reinforces the profound commitment I've always had to the women's rowing team and Holy Cross as a whole. Go Cross Go!"
