WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior forward
Caleb Kenney, a member of the Holy Cross men's basketball team, has been selected as the 2024-2025 recipient of the Richard J. Maloney Award. Since 1981, the Maloney Award has been presented annually by the Holy Cross Varsity Club to the men's basketball player who best exemplifies Mr. Maloney's spirit and energy as a loyal contributor to the program. Kenney, who also earned this honor last year, joins Rob Feaster (1994, 1995) and Gerrale Gates (2022, 2023) as the only two-time recipients of the award.
Kenney averaged 11.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.0 blocked shots per game during the 2024-2025 season, while connecting on 53.7 percent of his field goal attempts (154 of 287). He finished the year ranked seventh in the league in field goal percentage, seventh in blocked shots, 18th in rebounding and 19th in scoring. Kenney led the team in blocked shots 12 times, in steals seven times and in rebounding six times this year, while scoring in double digits 21 times and posting two double-doubles.Â
Over the course of his career with the Crusaders, he totaled 1,078 points, 599 rebounds, 156 blocked shots, 131 assists and 100 steals with a .544 field goal percentage (467 of 858). Kenney became the first player in program history to record at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 100 blocks and 100 steals.
