BALTIMORE, Md. – Junior
Mackenzie Creagh made 10 saves, but the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team was defeated by No. 15 Loyola (Md.) at the Ridley Athletic Complex in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals. The Greyhounds improve to 13-5 on the season and advance to the championship game on Saturday. The Crusaders conclude the year at 10-8 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Loyola held a 3-1 lead early on, before scoring nine straight goals to go in front 12-1 with 4:52 remaining in the second quarter.
• Holy Cross responded by scoring the final two goals of the second quarter and the first two goals of the third quarter to trim the margin to seven (12-5).
• But the Greyhounds scored the next three goals and would pull away in the fourth quarter to win by 13.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Senior
Ella Kittredge finished the game with one goal, one assist and four draw controls.
• Junior
Kate Burns tallied one goal, two ground balls and one caused turnover, while sophomore
Annabel Brennan posted one goal, one ground ball and one draw control.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• At the conclusion of the weekend, both Creagh and Kittredge earned spots on the All-Patriot League Tournament team.
