Holy Cross donors raise $1.24 million for Crusader Athletics during 2025 Power of Purple Giving Day

WORCESTER, Mass. — More than 3,800 donors came together during the 2025 Power of Purple Giving Day to raise a new giving day record of $1.24 million for the Crusader Athletics Fund. This marks an increase of 600 gifts from last year's giving day, and exceeds the 2024 record of $1.14 million raised.

"The College's annual giving day is always an inspiring example of the Power of Purple and the impact we can have on our student-athletes when we come together — together with our alumni, parents and friends who make all of this possible with their support, and together with colleagues across campus, most notably the Office of Advancement for whom giving day would not be possible," said Cara Abraham, Director of Athletics Development and Associate Director of Athletics. "There are a handful of days throughout the year when we are able to witness firsthand the strength of Crusader Nation, and giving day is always at the top of the list each year. We're truly grateful for the commitment of all who believe in the transformative student-athlete experience that we're providing for all 700 student-athletes at Holy Cross. Thank you, Crusader Nation, and Go Cross Go!"

Generous Crusaders Tom '71 and Jeannine Clark offered the following challenges to inspire others to support their favorite teams or all of Athletics and bring to life the competitive spirit of Crusader Nation during this 48-hour period.
  • The team with the highest percentage of alumni giving received $25,000
  • The team with the highest number of unique, individual donors will received $25,000
  • Each team with 100% parent/family household participation will received $1,000
Men's rowing led the way, capturing two of the three challenges. The program had the highest number of donors for all teams exceeding 500 individual donors, and the highest alumni participation with 27 percent of alumni making a gift during the Power of Purple Giving Day.

Softball had the highest alumnae participation for our women's programs, and the second-highest alumni participation overall, with 21 percent of alumnae making a gift during the giving day.

Capturing the final challenge, with 100 percent parent participation, were the men's and women's tennis programs.

Full results from the day are available on the Power of Purple Giving Day page.

As we approach the end of our fiscal year on June 30, we ask you to join with 3,800 donors who have already chosen to invest in Holy Cross Athletics this fiscal year. With $1.5 million left to raise to reach our $3.7 million goal for the Crusader Athletics Fund, we need your help to set our teams up for success as they train to compete for championships and pursue comprehensive excellence each day.
