WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross softball team concluded the regular season series finale against Lehigh on Sunday, Apr. 20. The Crusaders came up short 4-2 to the Mountain Hawks.
CRUSADERS 2, MOUNTAIN HAWKS 4 (FINAL)
STARTING IN THE CIRCLE:
- Holy Cross: Jordan Goedel (L, 2-13), 6.1 innings pitched, four hits allowed, four runs, two earned.
- Lehigh: Madison Finnerty (W, 11-6), 5.0 innings pitched, five hits allowed, two runs, two earned.
IN RELIEF:
- Holy Cross: Sophia Roncone, 0.2 innings pitched, one hit allowed.
- Lehigh: Chloe Hess (1S), 2.0 innings pitched.
STEPPING TO THE PLATE:
- Jordan Goedel: 2-for-3.
- Kate Trudgen: 1-for-3.
- Kelly Fricker: 2-for-3, one double, two runs scored, one RBI.
- Helen Woloshyn: 2-for-3, one run scored.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the top of the first, Lehigh drove in one run on a Maddy Schmeiser fielder's choice RBI.
- The Mountain Hawks picked up two more runs on a Kelly Fricker RBI single up the middle and a Julia Mrochko sacrifice fly RBI for the 3-0 lead in thre top of the second.
- In the top of the fourth, Lehigh crossed the plate for the 4-0 advantage on a Rory Dudley fielder's choice RBI.
- The Crusaders cut the Mountain Hawks' lead in half on a freshman Silje Emery RBI walk to score teammate Morgan Kane and a junior captain Ali Sniegocki fielder's choice RBI to score fellow captain and senior Emma Fong for the 4-2 result.
- Holy Cross came up short 4-2 to Lehigh.
UP NEXT:
- The Crusaders return to action on Thursday, Apr. 24 to host Rhode Island (URI) for a non-conference doubleheader at Freshman Field in Worcester, Mass.
- First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
