WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross baseball senior
Jimmy King has been named to the 2025 Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award watch list the College Baseball Foundation announced Friday afternoon.
100 of the nation's best shortstops are featured on the watch list and the award will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this year. It is named for former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace who died of leukemia at the age of 27. King, a 2024 All-Patriot League second team selection, is the only Patriot League representative on the watch list.

Ed Kahovec said. "His character and leadership, combined with his athletic abilities distinguish himself as one of the finest Crusaders ever to wear our uniform."
He has started and played in all 38 games for the Crusaders this year. King is hitting .333 with a .363 on-base and a .469 slugging percentage to go with 49 hits, 28 runs scored, 27 RBI, 16 walks, 15 stolen bases, 13 doubles and a home run. He is tied for the Patriot League lead in hits and doubles while ranking fifth in batting average, tied for fifth in stolen bases, tied for ninth in RBI, 10th in slugging percentage and 10th in OPS (.873). Defensively, King has 51 putouts, and 86 assists while recording a .965 fielding percentage, the second highest mark in his career. The 86 assists rank third in the conference.
The senior captain is second on the team with 13 multi-hit games and has seven games of 3+ hits including a pair of 4+ hit efforts at VMI (March 7) and at Bucknell (April 13) and one 5+ hit game at VMI (March 9).
King has appeared in 124 games for Holy Cross making 114 starts. He is a career .286 hitter while recording a .363 on-base percentage. He has posted 116 hits, 77 runs scored, 57 RBI, 43 stolen bases, 42 walks, 27 doubles, three triples and a two home runs. In the field, he has 253 career assists and 156 putouts.
The Crusaders (19-19, 10-6 PL) wrap up their regular-season away schedule this weekend at Navy (21-17, 12-7 PL) playing a doubleheader on Saturday, April 19 starting at 1 p.m. and a single game on Sunday, April 20 at 2 p.m. which will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network.
