WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross football team announced its team awards for the 2024 season during its annual banquet on Saturday, April 12.
Senior linebacker
Frankie Monte highlighted the award recipients, earning Most Valuable Player honors. Monte was an All-Patriot League first team selection after ranking in the top 10 nationally in total tackles (119, including 55 solo) and fumble recoveries (3) during the regular season. A team captain, Monte also paced the Crusader defense with 4.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, an interception, two pass breakups and two forced fumbles. He was a two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week and received the New England Football Writers' Gold Helmet Award in back-to-back weeks. Monte was a leader on a strong defense that held four of Holy Cross' six Patriot League opponents to one touchdown or less this year (just 16.5 points per game, the best mark in the conference).
