WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Holy Cross softball team took on George Washington for a make-up doubleheader on Mar. 4. The Crusaders dropped both games 3-0 in game one and 4-0 in game two.
GAME ONE: CRUSADERS 0, REVOLUTIONARIES 3 (FINAL)
STARTING IN THE CIRCLE:
- Holy Cross: Morgan Kane, 0.0 innings pitched.
- George Washington: Anna Reed (W, 5-2), 7.0 innings pitched, six hits allowed, five runs, five earned, one strikeout.
IN RELIEF:
- Holy Cross: Jordan Goedel (L, 0-3), 6.0 innings pitched, five hits allowed, three runs, two earned, eight strikeouts.
- Holy Cross: Kate Trudgen, 0.0 innings pitched
STEPPING TO THE PLATE:
- Kaylee Layfield: 2-for-3, one RBI.
- Emi Todoroki: 2-for-2, one run, one RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Revolutionaries scored in the bottom of the third with Kaylee Layfield hitting an RBI single to center field.
- George Washington furthered its lead in the bottom of the fourth with Emi Todoroki scoring a teammate on an RBI single to center field and another teammate scoring due to a Crusader throwing error. The Revolutionaries took the 3-0 win over the Crusaders.
GAME TWO: CRUSADERS 7, REVOLUTIONARIES 4 (FINAL)
STARTING IN THE CIRCLE:
- Holy Cross: Sophia Roncone (L, 2-2), 5.0 innings pitched, seven hits allowed, four runs, four earned, one strikeout.
- George Washington: Sophia Torreso (W, 1-0), 5.2 innings pitched, two hits allowed, seven strikeouts.
IN RELIEF:
- Holy Cross: Avery Toddings, 1.0 innings pitched, one hit allowed.
- George Washington: Chloe Greene (S, 1), 1.1 innings pitched, one strikeout.
STEPPING TO THE PLATE:
- Paige Hayward: 2-for-3, one double, one run.
- Emi Todoroki: 1-for-2, one run, one RBI.
- Cadence Gilliland: 1-for-3, one run, one RBI
- Ashley Corpuz: 2-for-3, one double.
- Kaylee Layfield: 1-for-3, one run.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the top of the second, Tordoroki and Cadence Gilliland both hit RBI singles to center field followed by Allison Heffley taking an RBI walk for the 3-0 lead in favor of the Revolutionaries.
- Madi Mays hits a sacrifice fly RBI in the bottom of the fourth. George Washington took the 4-0 win over Holy Cross.

- The Crusaders return to action on Sunday, Mar. 5 for a single game with Georgetown at Washington Nationals Youth Academy in Washington, D.C.
