Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball shuts down Navy twice on Sunday

WORCESTER, Mass. – Paced by junior Jaden Wywoda's complete game shutout and a monster afternoon from classmate CJ Egrie, the Holy Cross baseball team earned a Sunday sweep of Patriot League foe Navy at Fitton Field winning the seven inning game one 9-0 before earning a 10-0 run rule victory in game two holding the guests to one hit in the final contest.

The Crusaders (13-15, 5-3 PL) snapped their four game losing streak with the win while the Midshipmen slide to 15-13, 7-4 PL.

Wywoda took the bump in game one and delivered a gem scattering three hits and two walks striking out a career-high eight batters in the complete game shutout effort. In game two, the freshman duo of Derek Volz and Jake Lenahan allowed only one hit across seven innings of work.

Egrie hit .714 (5-for-7) in both games hitting a pair of homers with five RBI, six runs scored and three stolen bases. He currently has reached base in nine straight games and has a five game hitting streak. Egrie has stolen 19 bases this year which leads the Patriot League and he needs six more steals to set the single-season program record.
